Hi, welcome! My name is Angelina, and today we’re going to be reviewing a comeback I’ve been super excited for since the first teaser, and that is Itzy’s new title track which is called “not shy” and we’re also going to discuss the hate that Itzy is receiving and the copying allegations because we all know, I love to end fanwars.
Now, Itzy is kind of quickly becoming or at least on the road to becoming my ults. I get so excited for their comebacks and I’ve been a fan since Icy. And honestly, even if I don’t entirely vibe with their songs at first, they always end up stuck in my head and I always end up falling in love with them. Dalla dalla, icy and wannabe were all honestly amazing songs. I mean I already think wannabe is SOTY material. But quite frankly, as soon as I saw the obnoxious styling for this era, I was hooked and I thought this actually has the potential to be that step up that Itzy needed after Wannabe.

At first, I kinda disliked the song "it's kinda repetitive.. ehh.. erghh, this.. that.." that kinda reaction, but after some time it kinda grew on me, especially after seeing the choreography (and somehow, memorized it..) , It's now stuck in my head, not complaining tho, I think I prefer songs that grow on me rather than songs that I instantly love at first listen, the thing is I kinda get bored of a song faster when I loved it at first listen, idk, am I the only one??

I'm a little late lol, but I loved Not Shy. What I loved about the song is how cohesive the lyrics with the instrumental synths in the background. Most of the songs I know just felt like they are just gonna sing some few korean stanzas, then add a phrase that sometimes doesn't make sense (usually english), THEN the instrumental base comes on LIKE *BOOM* . And its fine. But it just feels so seperated (and a bit generic). Not shy was a bit different. It still had an english phrase, but they had the synth work for them. Chaery's "Itzyyyy" and Yuna's baritone chanty lyric *blended so well with synths* The minimal base just worked and its just pleasing to hear. Additionally the flow of the song is just great, and Lia's voice shined because its in her range. Along with Ryujin's and Yeji's rap parts. And as I said before, the instrumental worked for the song rather than being treated as a seperated party beat. So yeah. Thanks for reading through my TED talk lol. P.s. I haven't heard much of about the hate though. I just felt like it was sweeped under the rug because of the other major comebacks that came after it.

With the amount of whining you see on social media, I'm surprised they even waste their time on it. Mix that with the crazy stans and it's a recipe for depression and self-doubt. unpopular opinion: I see absolutely NO correlation between the choreos. NONE. HYLT is obviously way more of a chill choreo, still girl crush but with less moves, more focused on presence than technical aspects, Not Shy on the other side focuses on the choreo, like the changing of positions, the technical aspects are way more important in the Not Shy choreo. That’s just the style of each group, I see absolutely nothing alike I’m in shock someone even came up with the allegation in the first place...

A lot of choreographies look similar and if both itzy and blackpink have the same choreographer then it isn't much of a shock that both dance has similar vibes. And the shorts? Wanna Be is their best era. This song ain't bad but it's a complete downgrade or this is like their weakest track. The only good thing about it is that they are able to sing at a proper register this time. I feel like there are just way too much chanting or shouting happening. It just sounds messy AF. JYP trying to "copy" BP would certainly hurt this group. Honestly they are a dancing group so why not cap on that. This more singing is not just for this group but because of the new rules on music shows having less backtrack allowed is what forcing groups today to actually perform live. It's good to criticize but to hate is a no go. Sad to see it's not ITZY's fault for their changes. People should understand their management has the say to whatever they do out there unless told so.

In terms of clothing; so many groups use the same clothing because well they all 'rent' the clothes so ofc youre gonna run into ppl using the same ones, never seen anyone saying that that is plagiarism before now tho. When I first heard the song, I found the bridge as the best part. I don't know why but it made me feel something lol. I was kind of dissapointed that they used the chorus as their teaser :( There isn't really a WOW FACTOR for me but it was really good just not as great as their previous releases. The B-sides in this album slaps though especially Be In Love ✊🏼
