gonna be very frank, i disliked the autotune bc it wasn't used as tastefully like in black swan, which is also the same reason i didn't like on. i was literally unable to distinguish the member's voices or make out any harmonies. the line distribution channels literally helped sm in me trying to distinguish voices bc i thought jin literally got only two lines. the reason why i also disliked the autotune is bc bts doesn't NEED it. they're amazing singers, they've been proving it since debut. i've seen them using it a little too much since mots persona era and it kinda puts me off ngl. i want to hear their raw vocals or just harmonies with each other and not some obviously filtered vocals over and over again. i think it's a fair argument to offer bc it's a bit ridiculous to see fans deny that bts use NO autotune like hello?? d'you know the difference between playback and autotune?? and it's fair to argue a little bit about the line distribution if you CAN see members being done dirty. sope were singing so the "they were rapping" excuse is bs. their "poor pronunciation" is no excuse either bc jhope actually has great pronunciation imo. there are so many places where the line distribution could be better without sounding awkward. they were hype lines that i can see suga and jhope pulling off. there were parts i could see jin get actual lines instead of background vocals. bighit doesn't need to play safe with the line distribution anymore, it's not boy in luv era where they had to show the popular members more.

People forget that they have no participation in the writing and the production of this song. They were given a demo, they liked it and kept it as it is. So people shouldn't even be diving too deep into this song. It's just a very chill song. And bts's use of autotune is more of an artistic expression rather than it being used to mask their voices, but ofc I prefer their raw voices but the autotune does it's job, it gives the vibe that they want to convey.

As an ARMY, I really appreciate your thoughtful review on Dynamite (especially knowing you're a girl group stan and the fan wars that can get started there!). I definitely agree with what you said about the autotune and how it fits the genre they were going for. If they had a TON of autotune in every song, then it would be a problem. But we know they can sing well live and stuff, and so it's obvious to me that it's a stylistic choice. Overall, I like the song and it's definitely a vibe, and it's fun to have a song I can sing along to in English. I don't think it's particularly revolutionary or deep though. But the boys made it clear that it was a song that they didn't write and isn't meant to be thought about too much, just something fun and happy that they wanted to share with the world these days. Normally I like their self-produced songs best, but I think it's great that they wanted to share and perform an upbeat, happy song in a genre that they don't normally perform in to challenge themselves since the cancellation of their world tour

About the autotune its totally fine as long as bts does it If any other group would have done it they would bash the group right away LMAOO

As an army who's half korean and who have beem living in Korea, there are just some hard facts I came across that I need to drop to international armys. As for dynamite - It serves it's purpose.I would have thought Jhope would have had more of a presence in the song and video I think it's a style that suits his bright carefree vibe. V is a master of the aesthetic, visual goals. I hope future comeback songs utilise the rap line better - particularly suga and jhope

I partially understand why some ppl say "dynamite" is "boy with luv". To me, the melodies sound very different between the two, however they both give off the same commercialized/radio-ready quality.

Autotune doesn't ruin the song it really works for Dynamite. However I really wish they tuned it down sometimes especially on live performances. BTS are too good of vocalists for the sound editing team to be putting so much editing on their live vocals. And it really isn't working in their favour to be taken seriously in the western markets as I often see gp saying they're not even singing live or calling out the autotune. But then again western "rappers" use autotune to the fullest and somehow are ok and not looked down upon

For BTS, ARMY know and should know that BTS aren't greedy over things like line distribution they were once asked about this and j-hope answered "To be honest, instead of getting greedy about getting more prats in a song, Lines are usually just naturally distributed among the members. Our line distribution in a song always depends on who best fits the style of the song. Because in the end it's best to make good results of what we have" BTS never cared about this because they emphasis the song to turn out as it's best instead of counting how many seconds each member get lines. And let's be honest we all know and noticed that jungkook voice and style fits the most for Dynamite and jimin too hence both of them getting this much amount of lines! for example other songs that focus on rap, rapline gets most the lines, in japanese songs jin also get many more lines that in their korean songs because his voice suit the style. Lastly fans also should know BTS are involved in deciding who sing what they don't just sing what BigHit gives them So I will never understand any fan complaining and go count how much each member get lines instead of enjoying the music BTS is giving as it is. Music should be consumed as a quality not a quantity.

I can’t help but feel that the Jin controversy has been fueled and maybe even started by anti-fans and too many ARMYs bought into it. It just becomes another divisive and hate issue rather than enjoying those beautiful moments with Jin that will always stand out for me - like the iconic one with his arm raised or the moonwalk that he probably worked on so hard.

Like, are you really suppose to tell these artists what they should do? As far as I know, when you are a fan, it's up to you whether you'll like or support the music of the artist. If you like it then good, if not then move on. Cause if you're too eager to give yout two cents everytime and be like "hey, you should've done this or that", don't it goes against with the identity of the artist and the music that they want to create and share to the people? Even if you clear the shelves in music bars, buy digitals, merch and stuff with all your money, there's still no ounce of right to tell what they are supposed to be doing and not be doing. These artist may owe you for your support but they don't owe you anything in terms of their musicality and artistry. It should be solely decided by them and the people who are working with them. I grew up listening to mostly all genres of rock, some rnb's, some classic pop and pop music and some hiphop. Pretty much, stuff that were released around the 90's-2000's. I'm big fan of Paramore. I fell in love with them when they released Riot but I think Brand New Eyes is their best album ever. When they tested the waters to be more pop-sounding in their self-titled album, for the most songs in the album, I was like "Errr, not my thing" so I just move on, waited for their next release and just jam to their old tracks that's tattoed in my playlist forever lol. Then, they released a surely revamped Paramore with After Laughter and I was completely blown away and liked their completely different sound. I didn't like every single song but I loved their evolution. Many didn't like their new sound but they did it anyways because it was what felt right for them to do. So I don't understand why the music today, especially in Kpop, fans are so worked up and too critical in having their two cents, even demeanding for things that is supposed to be exclusively decided by the artist or their producer or whoever is involved to work with them. Sorry but I just don't get the nitpicking attitudes. If you don't like a specific song, album ot whay have you, well, you are free to not like it. It doesn't really follow that you are no longer a fan or what. But going to the extent that you'll have to demand for your preferred line distribution, exposure or whatever pile of shit you have to say, I mean are you nuts? I can guarantee that lots of you will come for me but try to understand first what I said. I'm not invalidating your opinions but I would actually ask for you to reflect and revalidate your opinions. Music should be more of a connection beyond what you can see or what you can hear. It is most importantly on what you can feel with an artist's music. If you feel like you can't connect, you can't accept the change they do or appreciate what they have put out, you are always free to skip and not add it in the playlist. For the english, not going to lie, even with songs with English sings, we still mishear the songs. The first song I can think of is Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" where everyone thought it was "Starbucks lovers" instead of "Starcrossed Lovers" And even when I listen to the radio, i don't pay attention to the lyrics? (I could be biased, but tbh I've always been this way, where one line just sticks to me and then the rest of the song is a bunch of "nanananana" because I don't know the lyrics lol) Anyways, I just like the song, point blank lol

To my understanding they got the beat of the song first and really liked it after which I think they weren't confident enough to make an English song which is why they took help of western writers and asked them to take boy with love as reference. Hence the similarities. The autotune was definitely a challenge because their voices most of them are just not made for Western pop. Jungkook and Jimin's tonality works really well ( you can hear it in their collaboration with Lauv too) but because the song needs to feel like it's just one beat looped to give that catchy western pop feel . They upped the autotune for the other members whose vocal ranges are alot deeper . It would still work without the autotuning but it seems it was definitely done as a stylistic choice to match the disco songs sound.
