Well I just say that Soyeon precious goddess won the favoritism think about it she writes the songs she is the leader, she has the best voice practically but the others did not win the favoritism so first inform yourself before making videos about my SOYEON.

I agree with the fact that, if there is a popular member, they should push that popular member more and capitalize off of them but that isn't the case for EVERGLOW. Because Mia (my bias) is not even the first or second most popular member. That honor goes to Yiren and Sihyeon. Since they both got really popular by being part of Produce 101 and Produce 48, everyone knew them. ESPECIALLY Yiren. A large majority of the EVERGLOW fandom is Yiren solo stans. Yet YueHua isn't pushing her. They're kinda hiding her, in all honesty. Most of the time, she and Onda are pushed to the back.

They will then go on to defend themselves by saying that they're a [insert group's fandom name]. Gatekeeping is important.

Personally I think there's a clear difference between being a stan and being a fan and what you perceive to be a 'casual stan' I believe that that is what being a fan is 🤷‍♀️ being a stan means to be truly invested with a group or an artist yet how can you be one if you don't know all of their names? I think the term stan is being thrown around and used out of context a lot when you can just call yourself a fan comfortably instead of feeling pressure from other multistans and believing that its wrong for you to not stan someone when in reality you're still appreciative towards different artists and do like them enough to call yourself a fan (ofc I'm not saying I'm right however 🤧)

But, the problem with solo stans and some casual listeners is that they use the fandom name (like: "I like the maknae line of BTS, so I'm an army"), even though they don't stan the group as a whole, and they also spread hate towards the other members or even some other groups (Blackpink is famous for having fans like that on the fandom). Still, people tend to overreact when it comes to those stans lol. Casual listeners usually don't mention the group a lot or anything, therefore they mostly go unnoticed and don't cause any trouble/drama Edit: also, casual stanning is a lot healthier, because you avoid becoming toxic

As a barely casual fan, I always thought that groups had roles like the dancer (one who does extra moves), the rapper, the angelic singer, the lead, etc. in which they are known for a particular specialty. Not to mention, I think it's natural for their to be a leader simply because humans are constantly looking for leads. Doesn't mean they should be so heavily prioritized. I simply thought there were roles.

Unless that rare 2/3 % who still think (G)I-DLE is "Soyeon & friends", they are still not familiar with the group dynamic and are not aware of how evenly distributed their popularity is in the fandom. Yuqi and Soojin are still the most popular members & others have their own fair share as well unlike the Hyuna thing in 4Minute. Soyeon is also a pro at crediting her members more instead of receiving limelight cuz she knows it's not good for the group. But I'm very glad that she is getting more recognized as a producer-songwriter in the KPop industry.

I honestly feel like I’m the definition of a casual stan. Like I really enjoy listening to groups like 4 minute, brown eyed girls, wonder girls, t-ara, everglow, seventeen and pentagon. But that’s kind of it. I just casually listen to their songs. I might not be that invested because there might not be a lot of other content or I don’t find that other stuff that interesting. There’s also survival show groups that I don’t wanna get too invested in. I made that mistake with JBJ as a baby kpop fan and I’m never letting it happen again. Also YG groups are off the table. I may be addicted to blackpink and 2ne1’s discography but there’s no way I’m letting myself get too deep into the fandom. I don’t hate myself *that* much. In general, I casually listen to hundreds of groups and soloists but at the end of the day, my stan list isn’t very long.

People tend to assume things about Jennie. She’s just an unproblematic idol that gets all her “scandals” blown way out of proportion. If Blinks were real fans they would notice that actually: Jennie also gets terrible outfits, she doesn’t always have the most lines and when she does; it’s because she rap and sung because if her position, she deserved her solo debut first because she was the longest trainee at YG. There’s always a pattern, when she’s happy, it’s because she’s ‘fake’, when she isn’t happy or doesn’t try her best, she’s ‘lazy’. When she wins an award, it’s because she’s YG’s favourite. People can’t accept the fact that if Jennie did actually put everything into her career, she would outshine many other idols in the industry and they feel insecure about themselves and they really show their insecurities through writing hate comments. Basically, people can’t accept that maybe Jennie is one of the most talented and iconic idols of the 3rd generation and find ways to make her look bad and exaggerate all her mistakes and make them into scandals, some of which aren’t even true AT ALL.

I need to stop you on the double standard because a lot of groups had that problem of so and so and friends like, monstex jooheon and friends, bts jungkook and friends, got7 Jackson wang but more about the work Opportunities and I’m sure there are a lot of other examples. Even with boy idols there are always just one member pushed to the center and given all the opportunities you can imagine music wise and work wise. It’s sadly how Kpop works, the company predict that a certain member will get more popular bec of their looks or personality and that really breaks a group and creates so much tension between members.

As you are a second gen stan you should know that one of the reasons SS501 disbanded was because people started spreading rumors about Hyun Joong, like he didn't care about the group and didn't like the members anymore, all the opportunities went to him, he changed after the success of BOF and many more; they started calling them "Kim Hyun Joong & the boys" that harmed the boys to the extend that they decided to let go of each other and group for good. there are a lot of others boygroup members that are being hated because of the same exact thing. But i think the fact that the favoritism of women is more discussed is because companies make it so noticeable. there are boys that are getting a lot of attention or opportunities outside the group but if you listen to their songs or watch their MVs, they are not the ones with most lines or most screentime so people that casually listen to the group's music don't really notice if they are being treated differently or not but in a few girlgroups if you as a casual listener watch their MV, most of the time it's just a specific member and sometimes it gets really annoying. I'm not sure about Jennie but Mia and Soyeon cases are really excessive especially in a industry that women are not as appreciated as men if a member gets most of the attention the rest of them will become invisible.

Miss A will always be the worst case of favoritism. I mean in all grouos there's a member that get more attention and its not always because of the company, and because of that attention they get more offers and deals. Girl, I've had this problem with K-pop since the 2nd Gen days. The more you shove someone down my throat, the less I will like them. That's part of the reason I dislike Tiffany and Yoona from GG. I know it isn't their fault, it's SM's fault. But I really struggled to like them as much as the other members (Sunny and Sooyoung).

She's literally about to cry every single time she's talking about disbandment (I feel her). Like you can hear the pain in her voice. I'm not gonna lie that I'm so literally damn scared that my faves are going to disband. And that I keep on trying to make myself believe that those groups will never do, just to make myself happy.

When I got into BTS I saw that everyone was like obsessed with Jimin (I got introduced right before Wings). Then two years later it switched to Tae and now it’s been Jungkook since like 2019. It makes me a bit upset since no one ever talks about the favoritism of the maknae line in BTS, like Jin and Namjoon are always pushed to the back for dancing and Jin is hardly given lines when he is so strong in vocals. It’s always maknae line for center and maknae line for the high notes. I don’t hate BTS whatsoever and I love the Maknae line with all my heart but like this needs to be talked about.

For Blackpink, I think the fashion comment actually does hold validity. I don’t think Jennie is getting the most expensive outfits--we have no way to tell about that. But in some stages all the other members wear black and she’s in white. I love Jennie and think she is super talented but sometimes I feel like YG dresses them in colors that make her stand out more.

I think another point to mention about the favouritism is the position of that member in the group, there’s positions that are back up vocal or main dancer or centre so generally the ones pushed to the centre usually have strong vocals, dance, stage presence and/or visuals so it makes sense that a company would promote that member more if they’re the strongest overall in the sort of songs and concept they’re promoting

The fact is there are so many times she gets ugliest outfit but it looked good on her bc Jennie wore it. When Jennie got some mistreatment, ppl are *always silent* . 2. Screen times: She doesn’t get most screen times at all. For example, in blackpink diaries, Jennie gets least screen time in almost every ep. and everyone is silent about this. 3. Line distribution: Jennie doesn’t get the most lines. Ofc she gets many lines but this due to her positions which are main rapper and lead vocalist. She has 2 positions that’s why. Moreover, she gets mistreatment in this issue as well bc she is *main rapper who doesn’t get to rap* . It’s so funny, isn’t it? She should get less singing lines and get more rap lines. 4. Solo: So far, she is the only one who gets solo but recently Yg announced about other member’s solo. So what happened? It appears that at the end, every members will get their solo and blinks are looking forward to all of them but Jennie is the only one who gets hate and insult by blinks themselves. I still remember the time she released her solo. Most blinks didn’t support her at all and insulted her. There are more people waiting in line that are in training than are functionally sustainable. How often do you hear about entertainers not getting paid?
