Today, we’re going to talk about the future of KPOP, especially since Chungha has tested positive this week, an Aespa fancam gaining a lot of attention because of what a staff member can be heard saying in the background as people are alleging they were insulted, NCT’s Jungwoo being caught smoking, the rumor that Dispatch will reveal 7 idol couples, and also everything wrong with MAMA from cutting Jin out of BTS to Idols waiting in parking lots and very high dust levels that idols have to deal with.
So if you didn’t know, dispatch essentially exposes an idol couple every january 1st, and people either love or hate it. However, there is this rumor going around that dispatch will not only be revealing one couple this year, but 7 couples. Now this is of course, just a rumor and there is absolutely no confirmation of this, but it’s been going around twitter quite a bit. And on one hand, we have people who are in general disgusted with the practice of dispatch revealing idol couples every new year, basically saying there’s a reason idols date privately and it should be up to the idols themselves to reveal that information. While on the other hand, there are also many people who are excited to find out who it is, and even predicting who it might be.
So apparently MAMA was dusty af, and it’s actually dispatch who went and investigated this and brought this to light, having visited the building in question and talking to a few idols. They basically say that Mnet put idols in a position where they were rehearsing and pre-recording their stages in a building that was full of dust, to the point it would cause a sore throat just by breathing, even outside of the building.
So MAMA was held at CJ ENM Contents World, and it seems that there are apparently 10 buildings that were under construction with only two having been completed so far. And according to dispatch, the areas surrounding this building were very much still under construction as they’ve released pictures of warning signs such as “caution: fire hazard” and “warning: drop hazards” and consequently, all the dust from the surrounding construction seemingly made it very difficult for idols to breathe. As we all know by now, idols performing at MAMA were waiting in cars in parking lots, and Dispatch also goes on to express how the parking lots themselves were “dust fields” and it was said that idols couldn’t even roll their windows down because everytime a car moved, the dust would just get inside the car, many people expressing that their masks were turning black, though idols obviously were not wearing masks while performing.
We also have SBS under fire for a comment that staff made during Ningning from Aespa’s fancam. So if you watch her fancam, you can hear someone say “it’s uncoordinated” in the video, which a lot of people thought was directed towards Aespa, essentially people thought the staff was insulting Aespa and it was caught on video.
